Do you start off with a concept/sketch and then make a blueprint to use as you map/create/design?
Or do you start off with an idea and “just see where it goes”?
^^b I really love these prompt question stuff since you get to learn how everyone works.
For me I actually start with planing concepts/sketches before going into the engine. I’ll think about the basics of “what the character’s goal it” “what they look like” and ect. After I get the main stuff done I would doodle a sketch of maps and then just see where it goes. I try not to plan every single thing since it might lead me to get bored though things like story and character arcs are 100% always done when I start working. (since I don’t want to hit a moment where I have no clue where the story is going)
Like since Verloren is my main game, the characters and story is 100% done, maybe minor things will be added but I know how the game starts and ends. It’s all the matter or eventing, sprites, cgs, and mapping which is fun not planing it 100%.
So far the game has full dialogue though art and is wip, I find it’s best to have lines to be final rather than art since you can always update the art while if a scene isn’t made right then the whole mood you are trying to do for the game would be broken.

Also in the Verloren team server I post most of the concepts, so far the title screen is just Muffin saying Hewwo. (since a black screen is boring). I hope I wasn’t rambling too much XD
